Zombiehamster Mixtape #11 Halloween Special

Posted by zombiehamster On October - 30 - 2009

MIxtape11

It’s that time of year again. It’s that time of the week again, so I decided that it would be suitable to make this week’s Mixtape Halloween themed. Compiled here are some of the themes and songs from my favourite scary, gory, creepy and unsettling movies. There are some well renowned ones (Edward Scissorhands) and some slightly more obscure ones for you to enjoy (Such as the theme from Nekromantik! – For all you lovers out there, it’s not wrong, our time will come.). This mix can be used as a goth makeout album, a score to your Halloween party or just something to get you in the mood for a weekend of creepy, gore filled debauchery.

This is essentially what I listen to all year round, so the excuse to compile something horror based was a real treat. From the synth heavy sounds of the old Italian horrors of Fulci and Argento, to the jumping strings of Danny Elfman and the otherworldly soundscapes from the universe of David Lynch, I am certain that this will get your Halloween off to a simply wicked beginning…..have a good one folks.

This is Muggles, distant relative of the Mugwumps. He can do things, terrible things. That’s all you need to know for now.

Mugwump Teaser Sketch #3 ‘Danzig’s Dad’

Danzig's Dad099

More Mugwump goodness in the run up to Halloween! Today’s sneaky peek is from the character sketches taken from one of Mugwump’s primary strips, ‘Desperate Danzig‘. This, as the title may have given away is Danzig‘s Dad, or Satan, as some of you may know him. Long since retired, Danzig‘s Dad opts for the quiet life these days, generally preferring to settle down with a good book as opposed to reigning down Hellfire and torturing the eternally damned like in the good old days. Given young Danzig’s propensity to get into all kinds of precarious predicaments however, he does find himself called upon from time to time.

The full initial Desperate Danzig story will be contained in Issue #1 of Mugwump and will probably result in me being sued by multiple parties.

More Mugwump sketches tomorrow…..

Le Chat Mort

As the majority of the upcoming comic will be in black and white, I am posting the original uncoloured page to give a better definition of the style that will be used. This doesn’t count as today’s post…that’s to come in a few moments.

Le Chat Mort (RS)

In the Spooky Spirit of Samhain, I felt that it would be appropriate to give a sneak preview of a little project that I have been working on recently. I have been putting together a comic in the old school, brush and ink fashion. The last month has been spent pretty much locked away in my new studio (which is almost completed as well, pictures to follow) trawling through ideas and writing. I must say, I’m really excited about this one.

The comic is called ‘Mugwump‘ and will be available in the very near future. It looks like it will be primarily available as a download, with a very small, self financed printed run for the interested. Over the next few days, I will be posting a selection of sketches and characters who will be gracing the depraved pages of the upcoming feature, to whet your appetites as it were.

The Mixtapes SHALL also continue and those who enjoy the reviews will be glad to know that there has (as always) been a plethora of media digested that is now amassing itself in the form of verbal regurgitation.

More to come tomorrow…..
